The Autobots, also known as the cybertrons, are the heroes in all the Marvel comics and movies lead by Optimus Prime. The Autobots are constantly at war with the Decepticons who are lead by Megatron. The Autobots decended from a line of alien robots created as consumer goods by the Quintessons and the Decepticons were decendants from a line of alien robots designed as military hardware. Since the beginning of the Transformers toy line in 1984 the franchise has expanded to include a huge selection of Transformers toys, Marvel comics, animation, video games and films
