Troll Family´s Halloween

“What are the children going to be for Halloween tonight? asked Troll Daddy, sitting down to eat his breakfast that Troll Mother just put down in front of him.
“I’m not sure it is such a good idea that they go trick-or-treating,” said Troll Mother, with a worried look on her face.
“I take it by the look on your face, that they still haven’t found that escaped convict,” said Troll Daddy.
“No they haven’t,” said Troll Mother.
“I don’t understand it,” said Troll Daddy angrily. “He escaped from Troll city jail two weeks ago! Why hasn’t he been found yet?”
“Troll City Police have been looking for him day and night,” said Troll Mother. “There is no sign of him.”
“Well,” said Troll Daddy. “I hope they find him soon.”
“Me too,” sighed Troll Mother.
Troll Daddy finished his breakfast and got up from the table.
“I’m going into Troll Town,” he said, picking up his car keys. “I’ll see you in a little while.”
“Okay,” said Troll Mother, giving him a kiss “Be careful.”
“I will Troll honey,” he said.
Troll Mother started cooking breakfast for the rest of the family who were all still sleeping.
“Breakfast is ready,” she called a few minutes later.
Troll Sister, Troll Brother and Troll Baby all came into the kitchen, sleepily. They all sat down at the table.
“Oh Troll Daddy,” said Troll Baby a few minutes later. “That is a funny Halloween costume you are wearing.”
Troll Mother turned around slowly. She knew that Troll Daddy was not sitting at the breakfast table. She knew that it was the escaped convict. She didn’t say anything about the strange man sitting at the table in the black and white striped uniform. She didn’t want to alarm the children.
“Here honey,” said Troll Mother, handing her own plate of food to the stranger. “I made you your favourite breakfast, pancakes and eggs.”
“Thanks,” said the stranger, gruffily.
“You have an awful cold,” said Troll Sister. “Do you want me to get you some cold medicine?”
“Good idea,” said Troll Mother, when she saw Troll Sister wink at her. “It’s on my dresser.”
“Okay,” said Troll Sister, getting up from the table
“No, don’t,” said the stranger.
“Oh sweetheart,” said Troll Mother. “We know how much you hate taking your medicine but you have to have or you’ll never get better.”
Troll Sister hurried away from the table. On her mothers dresser was a bottle of sleeping pills and the telephone. She picked up the phone and dialed the Troll Sheriff and quickly told him what was going on. Then she hurried out into the kitchen and gave the sleeping pills to Troll Mother.
Troll Mother gave the stranger two of the pills and a glass of water.
“Take your cold medicine, Daddy,” said Troll Brother, not knowing anything strange was going on. “You have to get better for tonight. We want you to take us trick-or-treating.”
The stranger took the two pills reluctantly and drank the glass of water.
“Good Troll Daddy,” Troll Baby cheered.
Within minutes, the stranger fell asleep at the table. Quickly Troll Mother and Troll Sister gathered up the two younger children and ran outside.
Troll Sheriff was just pulling into the driveway, with Troll Daddy behind him.
“Oh, oh,” said Troll Brother finally clueing into what was going on.
“Troll Daddy,” said Troll Baby. “Put your costume back on.”
Troll Mother explained everything to him as Troll Sheriff carried the sleeping convict out the door.
“Troll Daddy,” said Troll Baby. “There goes you Halloween costume. I guess Troll Sheriff wanted to wear it.”
“Yes, Troll Baby,” laughed Troll Daddy. “Troll Sheriff can keep it, for a very, very long time, too!”
