Presidents' Day
Honoring American Presidents - Presidents' Day
Presidents' Day is a federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February to honor all past United States Presidents. Until the mid 70's, George Washington's birthday on February 22, was a federal holiday and Lincoln's birthday on February 12, was a holiday in most states. In 1970 congress declared that in order to celebrate all past presidents of the U.S., a single holiday, to be called Presidents' Day, would be observed on the third Monday in February. In many states, however, the holiday continues to be known as George Washington's birthday. Other Presidents of the United States that were born in February along with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are: Ronald Reagan and William Henry Harrison. President's Day weekend will be spent getting together with friends and family having a barbeque, enjoying business weekend sales or watch a local Presidents' Day Parade.
