How to Draw Korra
I guess you could say it's official, there is going to be a new animated series airing on Nickelodeon in July of 2011 called œAvatar: The Legend of Korra. Today, I will be teaching you guys "how to draw Korra", step by step. Even though there is no official picture of Korra, I just used a reference from the net, and took it from there. At first, it was believed that Korra was the daughter of Aang and Katara, but I have learned by reading a few articles, that she is not the daughter of said couple, instead she is trained by Tenzin, Aang and Katara's son. Korra is the next Avatar, and she is somewhat the same as Aang. She is rebellious, and independent, and she is also a very hard girl to reason with. The series takes place seventy five years after The Last Airbender, and this time there is a whole new enemy to defeat, the people of Republic City. You see, in the storyline, Republic City is a metropolis area that is filled with citizens from all nations combined. Korra has to not only deal with them, but with all the crime, and anti-bender militia. Don't forget, this is only one place for the story's setting that we know of now, there is sure to be more places, trials, and tribulations for Korra as the co-creators of The Last Airbender are brought back for this new series as well. The difference with Korra, is she has already mastered Earth, Fire, and Water. All she needs to master now is Air. Anyway, when her face is released, I will do another lesson on œhow to draw Korra. In the mean time, tackle this tutorial, and get ready for an all new Avatar in the summer of 2011. Peace out people, and have a happy drawing day! Oh yeah, if you think I am wrong with any of the info I described here, please let me know as I am getting my facts from articles. Thanks guys!....
Are you ready to draw Korra? Good, let's start then. Start by making a circle for the head, and then draw the shape of her torso, and buttocks. Next, add some lines for her limbs to those shapes you just drew and make sure one of them is a neck line.
You can now start sketching out her head shape, and the shape of style of her hair which is from the back view. Don't forget to draw the shape of her face too.
Like I said before, you are drawing Korra from the back view so all you are going to be making, is her rear body shape. Now it's time to get her shoulders, arms, and back drawn out like you see here. There is no sleeves, instead you have to draw the toned shape of her arms, and her waistline should look slender or curvy.
Add detailing and definition to her back which consists of the indentation of her back arch, and the bones for her shoulder blades. When that is done, draw her ponytail, and her ear, and then add the arm bands like so. Lastly, draw the lining for her clothing, and add some shape to define the bottom part of her butt.
You are almost done, just a little more to go. Finish sketching out her arms, and clenched fists, and then add the shag at the bottom of her clothing like so. Next, begin sketching out the baggy pants she is wearing and then draw in the rest of her very tribal looking armband.
For your last drawing step, all you need to do is draw out the remainder of her pants, and then her boots like so. Add a fold over her boots, and then start erasing the lines and shapes you drew in step one.
This is how Korra looks when you are all done. It's now time to color her in. I hope you had fun, and remember, I will do another tutorial on this new Avatar when her face is released. Peace!
