19 Year old Kate Alexa from Melbourne has already had four Top 40 ARIA singles in her short career and is destined for more success. This album will gain instant success with followers of the TV series, and Alexa’s musical talents and amazing voice will ensure her further success.
Producers of the H2O series were such fans of Kate Alexa’s work that they sort her out and approached her to exclusively supply all the songs for series two. Kate also re-recorded the title track ‘No Ordinary Girl’ which features on the soundtrack. The series producers were also fans of Kate’s debut album Broken & Beautiful and chose two songs (‘Somebody Out There’ and ‘I Let Go’) to feature on the soundtrack.
H20 – Just Add Water follows the lives of three sixteen year old girls growing up on the sun drenched beaches of the Gold Coast. It is viewed by 100 million people in over 100 countries worldwide and has enjoyed great success for Network 10 and Disney Channel in Australia.
Opening track ‘No Ordinary Girl’ is a likeable tune, and a great start to the album, it has a catchy pop style and is sure to be liked by the H2O fans. ‘Another Now’ is a much slower track and the highlight of the album for me, it showcases Alexa’s vocal talents and was what I was hoping from the album. She has a beautiful voice and it’s a pity that they haven’t relied on it more.
Unfortunately, I’m not really in the target audience for this album, and it shows. I found it to be way too teeny-bopper for my liking. Alexa has an amazing voice and I am sure that we will see better releases from her, disappointingly this one didn’t hit the mark for me though.
